I recently received a phalaenopsis orchid for a gift. It had some care instructions with it, but I would like to know a bit more about it. When I got it, the roots were in bark, do I transplant it to soil? Please provide as much info about it as you can.

sarathia, Orchids are air plants. Orchids should not be planted in dirt. Leaving them in the container they came in until they out gorw the pots is okay. Mist your orchids daily with water and once a week soak the pots in a weak fertilizer solution for at least 15 minutes (longer is just fine). You will love the results. I do.

Thanks for the info, Usually just pour the fertilizer through. I think I will try the soaking.

Just leave the Orchid in the bark mixture. Water once a week until the water drains into the dish, then pour out the extra water. Feed with a liquid orchid
fertilizer one a month. It will take a while to bloom but will last a long time. Enjoy!
